Entry Status of the 4th ‘LotusPrize’ International Design Competition

The 4th ‘LotusPrize’ International Industrial Design and Innovation Competition has begun calling for entries on 10 May and ended on 7 July. During this period, the competition has received 3656 entries from 14 countries and districts (Mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, UK, Italy, Korea, Japan, Germany, USA, New Zealand, Sweden, Russia, Colombia and Botswana) of which over 300 are oversea entries.

This year’s ‘LotusPrize’ has attracted 200 international higher educations from across the globe, including Polytechnic University of Milan, Royal College of Art, University of Arts London, University of Central Lancashire, London Metropolitan University, Brunel University, Umea University, Hongik University, Chiba University, Shih Chien University, National Cheng Kung University, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Tsinghua University, Hunan University, China Academy of Art, Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts, Zhejiang University, Jiangnan University, Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, Wuhan University of Technology, Yanshan University, Zhengzhou University of Light Industry, Dalian Polytechnic University, Chengdu University of Technology, Central South University, Xiangtan University, Hunan University of Science and Technology and Hunan University of Technology.

The first stage of the competition has also won the support from many collaborating organizations. Enterprises and organizations gave topics to the competition of which include Midea, LG, Mango V Fund, Microsoft, Intel, Taskin City, Yixingyuan Tea, Huawei, Markor Furnishings, China Red China. Enterprises have all helped promote the competition and their topics which attracted the attention of designers and lead a new pathway to industry and social innovation service design.

The competition has started the preliminary round of judging on 8 July. Selected entries will go into the first round of judging for the ‘Innovation Design Award’. The entries will be judged by our international jurors and enterprise representatives (enterprises outside Hunan will judge online). After the first round of judging, the 100 or so winners of the ‘Innovation Design Award’ will be announced on our official ‘LotusPrize’ website.
