Eighteen Finalists of “LotusPrize” Unveiled

The second assessment of the 3rd “LotusPrize” was finished on 18th December, after collecting and calculating all scores given by eight juries, the Organizing Committee finally reveals the list of finalists for the Open Group competition (in no particular order).

The Final Assessment and the Award Ceremony will be held in Changsha on 9th and 10th January 2013, all contestants of finalists should prepare the following materials for the presentation they are going to deliver in the Final Assessment. All materials must be submitted to the Organizing Committee by e-mail or postal mail before 3rd January 2013.

1. Basic information of the entry (word document and renderings)

The name of the designer(s), the name of the entry and the category, both in Chinese and English;
Design description in Chinese and English, each within 250 words;
Contact information, including mobile number and postal address, we will send the LotusPrize Book to all finalists in June 2013;
Three 2d renderings of the product with transparent channel, whose length should not be less than 3,000px, in tif or psd format.

2. A short film to demonstrate the product

The length of the film should be no less than 60 seconds and no more than 300 seconds;
The resolution of the film should be 1280 X 720px (16:9);
Pixel aspect ratio: square pixel;
Field order: none progressive;
In avi format, h.264 coding, 25f/s;
(Example of exporting options of Premiere)

No significant signs of LotusPrize or others should appear in the film. The film should focus on demonstrating the design idea, the scenario and relative principles of the product.

3. 3d digital model (optional)

We recommend the contestants that design equipment such as machineries and vehicles to prepare 3d digital models. Please make sure all surfaces are properly closed into a solid model.

4. Multimedia demonstrating prototype (optional)

We recommend the contestants that design service systems, application softwares, and digital products to prepare multimedia demonstrating prototypes. Use standard technologies such as Flash or HTML5 to build your prototype so that it will be displayed properly in mainstream web browsers.

5. Real prototype (optional)

We recommend the contestants that design medium-and-small-sized consumer goods, cultural products, handicrafts to prepare real prototypes.

6. Picture of the designer(s)

Designer(s) should submit a picture with upper body, the simpler the background the better. Resolution of the length should be no less than 800px.

For each entry, the Organizing Committee will pay for one contestant his/her long-distance travel expense (intercity or international travel, intracity travel is not included), the Organizing Committee will also arrange accommodation for no more than two contestants. Contestants in China should book train tickets or flight tickets by themselves and keep the tickets or the invoices for refund. The Organizing Committee will book flight tickets for overseas contestants. Those who plan to fly to Changsha, only tickets of economic class will be refunded.

Contestants of finalists should arrive at Changsha on 8th January 2013, the hotel they will stay in is Jasmine International Hotel (address: No. 528 Middle Jinxing Road). In the hotel lobby the contestants can find the reception of the Organizing Committee. All contestants can leave Changsha in the afternoon of the 11th.

We require all contestants to dress formally for the Award Ceremony.
