– The International Industrial Design Cooperation Summit and award
ceremony were held on 19 December, marking the successful conclusion of
the Second
Lotus Prize International Industrial Design and Innovation Competition.

winners of gold, silver and bronze prize in open group and 5 winners of
enterprise innovation prize were finally unveiled. Present at this

It also brought together guests, winners and enterprise representatives across the country.
50
candidates from Shih Chien University in Taiwan, Jiangnan University,
Yanshan University, Hunan University, Central South University and Hunan
Industrial University showed juries their designs in a vivid oral
presentation of their final review. 17 participating enterprises
delivered and exhibited their products on site for final review.
The
candidate works were highly acclaimed by judges. Eric Anderson,
chairman of IDSA expressed that some innovative concepts and designs
deserve commercialization and application.
On the 19 December,
the 2010 International Industrial Design Cooperation Summit convened and
was headed by Vice Chairman of the China Industrial Design Association
(CIDA) Zhao Weiguo. The summit was held to discuss leading trends in the
field of international industrial design and learn from their guest
speakers’ experience. By pooling international design resources in
Hunan, it would help local enterprises in developing global perspective.
Participants exchanged their views on the future of China-Italy
Industrial Design Center, discussed its settlement in Hunan and the
exchange and cooperation between Hunan enterprises and outstanding
design institution from Italy.
HUN-Nokia Joint Research
Laboratory was announced to be set up in Hunan, a third establishment in
the mainland following Nokia’s cooperation with Tsinghua University and
Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications. This move aims to
promote the innovation of conceptual design of mobile phones.
The
award ceremony was duly held on the evening of 19 December. Winners
from open group for gold, silver and bronze prize in fields of
transportation and machinery equipment design, digital products and
service design, tourism culture and creative products design. Winners
for enterprise innovation prize were also announced and conferred
certificates.
In addition, Sany Group purchased copyrights of
partial award-winning works; the joint research laboratory newly
established by Hunan University and Nokia issued internships invitations
to prize winners; the Hunan Provincial Tourism Bureau granted the prize
winners designer certificate of the “Cultural Tourism Products R&D
Center”.
