On January 10th, Governor Zhou Qiang met guests and judges of the final adjudication of the 2008 Lotus Prize Industrial Design and Innovation Competition. The Vice Governor Guo Kailang, the head of the Science and Technology Department of Hunan Province Wang Keming, the Cheif of the Administration of Radio and Television of Hunan Province Ouyang Changlin, the Director of Foriegn and Oversea Chinese Affairs of Hunan Province Xiao Xiangqing, the Vice Director of Administration of Radio and Television of Hunan Province Lv Huanbing attended the meeting.
On behalf of the Hunan Provincial Committee and Provincial government, Governor Zhou Qiang first expressed great thanks and warm welcome to both domestic and international judges to come to the final adjudication of the 2008 Lotus Prize Industrial Design and Innovation Competition in Changsha. The final adjudication is regarded authoritative as the Chairman of the ICSID Carlos Hinrichsen is one of the members of the final adjudication team. Zhou Qiang hoped that by taking the advantage of the first international industrial design competiton in Hunan, the development of industrial design in Hunan can be better promoted.
Governor Zhou Qiang pointed out that as the Science and Technology Department of Hunan Province has made great effort to promote the development of industrial design in Hunan and the School of Design in Hunan University has turned out a lot of industrial design talents, the present situation of industrial design in Hunan is better-off. In addition, the innovative industry in Hunan has great influence in China. The comic originated in Hunan has occupied 2/3 of the output of the comic industry in China.
Carlos Hinrichsen expressed great thanks for the invitation to the final adjudication by Hunan Province. The 2008 Lotus Prize has proved to be a very successful competition as both domestic and international judges think that these entries are good combinations of innovation and industry which will turn out to be good products in the near future.
